Artists Giving Back (AGB) was created in 2022 to meet the secondary needs of refugee populations worldwide. Primary needs such as food, housing and medical are essential but what about healing of the heart? AGB returns dignity, builds community and instills hope through art programming and art shows.
AGB has worked in Poland with Ukrainian refugees, and currently operates in Lesvos, Greece in partnership with Parea Lesvos and Europe Cares. Refugees from Chad, Sudan, Eritrea, Sierra Leone, Syria, Gaza and Afghanistan all fleeing human rights violations, war and political oppression make their way across the Aegean
Sea on overcrowded life rafts in search of freedom. Sadly vessels often capsize and many lives are lost. Those who do survive end up in a soulless refugee camp on Lesvos for up to 4 years. Boredom is the biggest complaint.
Founder of AGB and internationally exhibited artist, Suzanne Horwich believes in creating hope with the refugee population by helping them to work towards an art
show and daily art programs. Suzanne and the refugees create personal works and collaborative pieces both for personal pleasure and to raise awareness through exhibitions. Working in collaboration builds community of this dispersed population and promotes dignity.
