Rob Behrens was UK National Ombudsman between 2017 and 2024, an independent role resolving public service complaints and reporting to Parliament. Previously he had been an academic, a senior civil servant, Complaints Commissioner to the Bar Standards Board in England and Wales, and Higher Education Ombudsman. He was an elected member of
the International Ombudsman Institute between 2021 and 2024. Rob was made a CBE for services to higher education in 2016, and awarded a Knighthood for public service earlier this year. He was awarded the Certificate of Merit 'for distinguished service to the Ukrainian People' by the Ukrainian Parliament in 2024. Rob is married with two children, a member of Radlett Reform Synagogue and has been a supporter of Manchester City FC since 1952. .
