Slow Living - A Peaceful Path Beyond the Maddening Pace of Modern Life
Dr Elliot Cohen
Why is everyone so stressed and exhausted all the time? What can Psychology and Spirituality teach us about how to slow down? What does the Shabbat teach us about slow living?
Dr Elliot Cohen is a Chartered Psychologist, an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, and a senior lecturer in Social and Interdisciplinary Psychology at Leeds Beckett University. He previously worked as a Psychotherapist in both the NHS and private practice, and earlier as a researcher in the BBC's department of Religion &
Ethics.
Elliot has spent over thirty years studying different spiritual traditions including Hinduism, Buddhism and Daoism. He was born in Leeds and raised in an Orthodox Jewish family. He lives by the Talmudic saying 'Who is wise? He who learns from all people.' He
is the author of two books, The Psychologisation of Eastern Spiritual Traditions (2021) and The Psychology of Slow Living (2024), both published by Routledge.
