Antizionism or antisemitism? The United Nations and Israel

Is the UN antisemitic? How should Israel respond to antizionism? What action is justified after October 7th?
Rosa Freedman is Professor of Law, Conflict and Global Development at the University of Reading. She is a non-practising barrister and an academic panel member of 4-5 Gray’s Inn Square. Rosa has published extensively on United Nations human rights bodies and systems, and on peacekeeping and accountability for human rights abuses. She has
written three monographs, including the first book on the UN Human Rights Council, and five co-edited collections, including on responses to the 7th October atrocities. Her articles are published in the leading international law journals and in the top human rights journals and she is frequently invited to deliver them at high-level conferences. Most recently she was invited to deliver a paper on the UN, Israel and Antisemitism at the Hoover Institute, Standford University.
Rosa is the Deputy Chair of the Intra-Communal Professorial Group set up in 2024 to address and combat antisemitism in UK universities.
