Nicola Beauman founded the unique Persephone Books 25 years ago, determined to re-acquaint or introduce readers to oft forgotten women novelists.  She has brought the forgotten writer of the Crooked Cross “back into the spotlight”.  Published to critical acclaim in 1934, it lifted the veil on the rise of the Nazis.
A writer and researcher extraordinaire, Nicola recalls the pre-internet days when she was denied entry to the British Museum as she had small children with her.
Writing only about the books she really enjoyed, these were the choices that powered the success of Persephone Books.
